The role of the Press and Communications Office

We communicate the work of our Ministers and the Department to the media as well as responding to media queries and requests. We are also responsible for the Department's online media presence, including the Department's website and social media platforms such as Twitter and Flickr.

The head of communications has overall responsibility for managing and developing the Department's communications and social media activities and capabilities at a strategic level, including responsibility for the Press and Communications office team. The team is the first point of contact for media queries. The team also support the head of communications in his role of co-ordinating media relations across the Department.
